Please remove the fleur de lis icon in chess variants

yes yes yes these are in Fog Of War and apparently all variants, they are useless and annoying and should go away.

it is a bit bothersome, is there no way to disable it?
As far as I'm aware, it can't be turned off. I'd be fine with it if there was an option for it (with it being off by default, of course, because it's pretty useless and distracting)

Wait, does it show where the enemy king is at in Fog of War chess? Or rather, where they might be since the icons are broken anyway.

If does not show where the enemy king is unless you can see the enemy king anyway.
It labels the actual position of the White king (if you can see it).. And if labels where the Black king would be if the board were rotated 180 degrees.
Recently, a new icon was added to the variants that (I think) is supposed to show which piece the king is. However, the icon is totally bugged and causes all sorts of weird things to happen, like this:
In this example, the icons started on the king squares, but quickly go in other directions when the pieces move around. Sometimes they don't move when they should, and sometimes they move when you aren't doing anything. Your browser's zoom level can also affect where the icons are.
Why were these symbols added in the first place? If the only reason is to tell which piece the king is, it's pretty useless in most variants. In my opinion, the symbol should only be there if there is another piece that looks like the king. Courier chess is a good example of this:
But in other variants, is it really necessary? Anybody can tell which piece the king is in this screenshot:
My other problem with this is that the symbol isn't mentioned anywhere on the site that I can find. It's not mentioned in the rules for any variant (even courier chess, which is where the symbol comes from). It's not at all necessary and I doubt it's a change anybody asked for, except maybe for courier chess.
