Recommended Match: is this a new feature?

Just noticed this on my homepage:

This isn't a challenge notification, right? And I assume that if I click the green checkmark, it sends a challenge to this person? I'd be interested to know more about how the site decides which player (friend? former opponent?) to recommend and what kind of game.

EDIT: Confirmed that's what it does; I clicked and it sent the challenge. Odd though, it's a 7-day daily not a 24hr daily. Now I'm even more interested in the recommendation method since I don't think that's a time control either of us has ever played.

newish feature.

It only appears when you dont have any daily games though

to quote chess.com

When you see the recommendation you can either choose to accept it, which will send a 7 day per move challenge request to that person, or you may decline the recommendation. In the case that you decline it, our systems will take that action into consideration, crunch the new numbers, consult the chess gods, and then generate a new recommendation for you shortly after.

We have a lot of ideas to take these recommendations to the next level, but we want to hear from you! When you get a recommendation let us know in the comments below if you felt like it was the matchup of a lifetime, or if there was someone else you expected to see - all feedback welcomed.
As always, we look forward to hearing your feedback and suggestions you have to improve Chess.com. Thank you! 🙌

I reorganised my homepage so the daily games (which I don't play usually) are in the bottom. I don't need recommendations to play with a friend. If I feel like playing with a friend, I'll do it without having my homepage littered.
As a new element of the homepage it should be customisable and removable.

Is there any way to permanently remove these 'recommended match' prompts?

I don't think so.

Well, I'm digging it. I've been off the dailies for a little while and it's good to get back to them. Of the two games I just started with this feature, one is with someone I haven't played in quite a while, so that's cool.

If you really need to remove these from your home page,
you could uncheck the "Daily" section from your home page here,
