I think that is a good idea, there should also be a button to do a rematch that is unrated so people can try out different ideas if they had tried a different variation or something like that.
Two rematch buttons, one with new colors, one with same, should replace current button

Zach, I think it's a good idea to have 4 rematch buttons. But, I don't think chess.com will back 4 buttons. It's clear they discourage non-rated games. Having two unrated rematch buttons when they just got you to play a rated game might be too much to ask!

Ok so two people just played a game of chess. Someone just won and someone just lost. Consider, who would be the person wanting a rematch? Usually, it's the loser. But, do they want just to win? Or do they want to fix the problem: to replay the same opening without the blunder that caused the loss so they can have a "real" game? Usually it's the latter. So, most rematches should actually be of the same color.
Indeed, the key to improving in chess is to FOCUS on your problems. But if you switch colors, there is zero chance of that happening! The current rematch button hurts one's ability's to improve.
Why does chess.com flip colors on rematches? Because in WCC that's what they do. This isn't WCC, so we need a same color and different color rematch button, not just a rematch button. Indeed, I would suggest just reversing the default button from flipping to non-flipping, but, it is true white has a slight advantage, so for top top top players with rated games flipping colors makes some sense. Just not for unrated games of players wanting to improve their games.
Why can't we just use the challenge feature? Because people start a new game in that short time.

if you really think most rematchers are people who want to fix a mistake, you need to understand that that can not be true ever

think of it in tennis terms... you just had your serve broken: is it fair to your opponent to ask to serve again to fix your mistake, or should he get a chance to serve now?
if you & your opponent are both agreeable, then match them with your specifications... otherwise it is only fair to switch colors every game.
" is it fair to your opponent to ask to serve again to fix your mistake, "
Invalid analogy IMO. You don't "fix" a broken serve like you avoid a blunder within your preferred opening or response to an opening.

"there are already seek settings for playing the same color repeatedly if that's your thing." No it doesn't work for the reason I gave, which was from experience and even upvoted by both players trying to do it.

"easy: /play xxxx 3 2 white;"
This only does a game using the old board. I refuse to use it.
Also, it seems simple, but it actually takes longer to remember, think, type out, be accepted by the other player, then it does for the other player to click on a dot on the open challenges button. I am speaking from experience. You, clearly, aren't; you're a shill.
