Why isn't there any time control setting matching FIDE classical?

FIDE time control is 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 60 minutes for the next 20 moves, with 15 minutes for the rest of the game and an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 61.

We have 60 minutes here, and 45|45.  But why doesn't this site offer classical games?

It's not as popular here. There are some clubs that play longer time controls though. The site is planning on creating a more classical rating pool, though I don't know how far out that is.

But you can create a seek like that using the Custom option and people can see it on the seek graph in live.

I was thinking about it also. They advertise themselves as a biggest chess website but they don't offer a most important/prestigious type of a game in a chess...

Wait I was wrong.  WCC is stupid and nobody cares.  But FIDE classical is a big deal.  "The time control for classical games is 90 minutes for 40 moves, plus an extra 30 minutes after move 40. There is also an increment of 30 seconds per move from move 1."

So I guess the closest is 90|30? How do you program chess clocks? The average game used to be 40 moves for good players equally matched/ 90+30=120.  So I guess the closest to FIDE classical is 120|30?

"It's not as popular here."

How would you know if it doesn't exist?  At the least you have a grammar error with a better wording being, "I think it would not be popular here if this were offered."

"The site is planning on creating a more classical rating pool, though I don't know how far out that is."

Obviously the opposite is true.  The site doesn't want to have confusion with the FIDE classical rating so they ban any time controls resembling it.

"But you can create a seek like that using the Custom option and people can see it on the seek graph in live."

Again, that's more false information. I just played a game that was supposed to be 120 minutes with 30 second increment.  It was edited to 120 minutes. When played, there was no increment.

I agree and also they should create another separate rating for Standard apart from the Rapid.

The vast majority of players are playing faster time controls, with 10|0 being the most popular.

As to another rating pool, @erik has posted in a couple of places that they are looking into adding another rating pool for longer time controls. The site isn't banning time controls at all. Its absence currently, has nothing to do with FIDE.

To your final point, people create custom time controls all the time, with and without increment. I can't speak to your specific attempt, since I've never tried to set up one that long to see what it will do, but I suspect it would work.

"... I suspect it would work." Before you open you mouth to accuse someone of lying, perhaps you should at least try it yourself first?

I didn't accuse you of anything. Just that setting up increments and custom time controls work in general. I would have to work with someone to set up a time control like that as an unrated game, since I certainly don't feel like playing that time control online.

Right, clicking unrated is too much work for you but accusing me of lying and then denying it and wasting bandwidth by being a troll, that you have lots of time for. Ok.

A long time control like 90|30 strains the eyes online.
It is hard to commit for 4 hours against an internet stranger.

I'm not going to start a game with a random player that I have no intention of playing at the stated time control, so I have to work with someone that's willing to test with me, knowing I won't play it out meh.png

The logic is dishonest.  Nobody cares too much if you abort an unrated game on move 2. Move 20, sure. A rated game, even then the other player would not mind. You can challenge me but stop posting here your excuses for your false accusations.
