Why the New Profile Update Deserves a Fair Chance

Hey everyone, I’ve noticed a lot of people upset about the new profile update, especially with the removal of profile views and features like profile notes. While I get that change can be tough, I think the new update brings some real positives that we shouldn’t overlook.

First off, by removing profile views, chess.com is shifting the focus back to what really matters: the game. Chess isn’t about how many people click on your profile—it’s about strategy, creativity, and improving your skills. Let’s not forget why we’re all here in the first place!

The update also brings a cleaner, more modern look to profiles. Navigating through the site feels smoother, and I personally find it easier to focus on my matches and analysis. Plus, the emphasis seems to be on enhancing the overall user experience by fixing bugs and adding thoughtful features.

As for profile notes, while it’s unfortunate they’re gone, they were a niche feature that probably didn’t serve the majority of users. The update seems geared toward streamlining things and focusing on the essentials, which is a smart move for such a widely used platform.

I know change takes some getting used to, but let’s give this update a fair shot before calling for it to be rolled back. Who knows? Over time, we might all come to appreciate what it offers!

(I know I may be new, but I plan to play a lot of chess.)

I never cared about notes tbh, but removing things to shift focus onto chess is not at all what the community wants. The reason it is way more used than www.lichess.org is that it's not JUST chess! It has a ton of unrelated to chess features that make it stand out from other sites!

You do have a point, but chess.com is still a social site. Because notes could have been hidden and only friends can comment, friends might go crazy with what they say

Exactly! It is a social site for chess players! Originally, it was only a place for chess forums! By removing those features, they are taking away the social side!

No the thing is people only care about views and follower count but that sort of thing doesn't really matter to those who are actually social. Because they would talk in clubs and whatnot, not on notes.

It does though! No one cares about note, but the official feedback club is going down in flames because views are gone!

But what do views have do to with anything at all? Nothing really

Remember, this is social media mixed with chess, so views and followers really determine your rankings. (along with your chess stats)

TheChainedKingOfOblivion

It's mainly chess stats that decide this.

But, followers and views still matter to the community

TheChainedKingOfOblivion

But they don't really do anything except potential problems

Levi_Tha_Jedi

stop arguing

Honestly, they never caused problems. It was just a little feature the community liked.

I've heard about people argue and fight over who had more views and kept saying that the other somehow cheated to get more views. My friend told me
