Why was opening explorer removed from the app?

The iOS team tells me that specifically on iPad, we actually have never offered the standalone Openings module. (We plan to do it at some point - just never got around to it.)
You should be able to update the iPhone app without losing Openings on iPhone.
As a workaround on iPad, I believe you can view the Opening book by visiting any Daily game in progress, going to analysis, and clicking the book icon from there. (This shows you the book for your current position, but from there you can return to the starting position and examine any variation.) I don't have an iPad in front of me to test this, so let me know if you run into trouble.
I could’ve sworn “Openings” was on the iPad app at one point but I’m probably just confusing it with the iPhone app. Your work-around works, but it would be great to have the module ported to iPad. Many thanks!
Yes please, would really like Opening Explorer on the iPad menu. I’m new to chess.com, and didn’t realise this even existed - was about to downgrade my membership here and upgrade at chessgames.com specifically to get Opening Explorer.
More generally, the menu on the iPad app is awful - just a flat list of 32 words. Whereas on the website there are 7 categories with nice icons, and sub-levels below that. Please fix this!

I'd love openings explorer in the app too (but I use Android). No "openings" in the menu on either my phone or tablet (both Android).
Edit, June 2022: Looks like I have it now, on Android.
