?????!!!!! Make a complaint to chess.com and in the meantime just stop playing when you run into a 2000 then rinse and repeat until chess.com listens
"Your account may be restricted..."

Looks like the streamers have been whining for changes. Overnight the site seems to have been altered to where now, playing as a Guest, you cannot abort a game. Not after two moves, not after one move. If I do, I get the warning in the lower, left-hand corner. On what planet is my account suspended for aborting a game played as a Guest? Being able to abort a game when I find myself playing a 2000+ rated streamer is the draw to playing as Guest to begin with.
Pretty sure they just use the same code for guest play and that will show up under any aborts.

Thanks as always for the reply, Martin. Your time is much appreciated.
24 hours ago, the warning was not there, or 6 months ago or a year ago. But setting this aside as trivial, I am far more troubled that no one can abort in a Guest game, now. The change makes it easy for streamers and lowlife smurfers to pile on wins at the expense of us low skill players. Rated games I can see why aborting is not allowed, I get it. But in Guest it always was, two moves in. I would like to see the current set-up changed back to the way it was 48-72 hours ago - it saves me from wasting my time playing the role of punching bag for the Twitch crowd.

I was able to abort as a Guest with no issues. You get the message and it's possible if it's done too often, it will work just like it does for signed in accounts.

This reminds me of something I encountered when playing against the computer as a guest user. I am guessing that guest accounts are shared with other players when they are not in use, considering that many of the bots sometimes already have crowns marking that they have been played by that user before. I once was logged into a guest account that had beaten the Francis bot with three crowns.

Interesting. Yours is a very helpful post, thanks much for the info! 👍

Understood. Were you able to move once or twice before doing so?

As far as I'm aware, once a move is played by both players, aborts are no longer possible. I was able to abort after my first move and before my opponent's.

Until a few days ago, a Guest player could abort after one move even if his/her opponent had moved, and after second move if opponent had not yet moved. It was a very helpful feature upon discovering smurfers were loitering in Beginner, looking to abuse hapless low skill players (like me). No idea why they got rid of it, but would bet money it's because streamers started whining about their vicitms getting away.
