2 queens? ???

Max number of queens for a player is 9. You start with 1, and potentially all 8 pawns can promote to queens. Anything more than 9 queens of 1 color is an illegal position.

I know someone who's opponent got 9 queens but he still won.
Here is the game (with his annotations)

Somebody should have notified Fischer and Petrosian that they weren't allowed to have more than one queen!

You may be confused because the physical board and pieces that you can buy usually come with only one queen of each color. But that doesn't mean you can't have more. Many people will use an upside down rook to indicate a queen, or just use any other piece and remember that it's a queen. You can also use coins, bottle caps, or stones, or anything else that fits on the square.
It's possible to have 9 nine aaaaaaaaa 3*3 2+7 27-18 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 queens on the board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this is an older post but while searching for information, it brought me here.
about 20 years ago when I was in my 30s
I played a game of chess a gentleman brought to a party, he said it was based on an original, ancient game of chess.
This game had an extra row of squares on the board and there were a total of four queens on the board, one on each side of the king.
ive been trying to find information on this game ever since.
It was quite an interesting version to play.
