This rule doesnt exist... If you run out of time and your opponent just has a king then it is a draw, but if you are at 1 second you dont draw until your time runs out... maybe lag?
5|0 draw (0.5-0.5) and why it is stupid

I assure you I did not run out of time, the clock says 0:26 and it was my opponents turn. the result said "Draw 0.5-0.5" which I can only assume means "both your times are under 30 seconds, so this game is over just because"

If that is the case, it sounds like you stalemated your opponent. Again, we can only help you identify the problem if you provide a link.

Sry, I posted that at the same time you posted the link. However, it looks like the link you posted isn't working.

Then it was a draw because you stalemated your opponent. A stalemate occurrs when the side whose turn it is to move has no legal moves, but his King is not in check. A good way to prevent stalemates when you first start playing, is to leave your opponent with a movable pawn or two when you have a huge material advatage, and are about to checkmate your opponent.

But then I explained what I stalemate is, which you didn't :)

In short, we need to alter the rules of chess and take out a glitch in live chess otherwise known as "stalemate" so that people don't get confused.

Yes I know. I edited after I saw your post #11. I realize that the way I worded my replay, it sounded like I was saying I explained it before I edited it. That was not what I intended.
stale mate means your opponent cant move just like I eat guini pig said it was a draw becuase you need to learn how to checkmate !

ya but you copyed what I wrote...
My most recent game I played, I incured a draw because of a ridiculas tie rule based on time. My opponent had nothing to work with, I had a rook, 6 pawns and a knight.
Explain to me how it makes sense that just because we are both at equal time below 30 seconds that the game is automatily a draw despite one player having an overwhelming advantage.
If we both had near equal material, I wouldn't have a problem with this rule, but 26 seconds, 6 pawns and close to zero resistance? come on, anyone could finish in that time!
In short: this needs to be removed. Theres no reason for it to even exist.
