Average revenue of ads per member/day

I hardly will get an answer on this, but could someone please tell me how high they would be if that person spends around 8 hrs/day on this site, has AdBlock turned off and pays no further attention to the ads around him? Would it be equal, or even more, than the amount of money one would pay for a Premium membership?

Of course, I'm referring to myself.

I would guess less. That's why they want you to upgrade. Tongue Out

I think if you use AdBlock they would get zero dollars since most ads are based on the number of click-throughs.

AdBlock only disables intrusive, distracting, third-party ads.  If chess.com changed their methods to self hosted not-so-damn-distracting ads, they might actually see a increase in profits.

I used to have AdBlock plugged in and couldn't care less about the ad revenue I'd generate if I would have switched it off. Then, one day, the whole site stopped functioning for me and one of the staff member told me I had to deinstall it in order to fix the problem. No bad feelings about this, the site has to survive, right? But I keep wondering: Since I already have to endure the ads, would it be helpful to let the mouse cursor hover above one ad while I'm away from the computer? Do you generate more income the more time you spend here, or is it capped to a certain amount? I might not be upgrading my account in the near future, but if I can help Erik make an extra buck with some small tweaks in my behavior, then why not? Smile

Seems to me like a heck of a lot of fun for $7 a month... and I hate ads and I love "vacations," and that "Timed Out" protection really helps me sleep at night -- no more nightmares about losing "on time." (the horror, the horror....)

P.S.  Do I get a discount now, Erik?

Re enable your ad block. It has nothing to do with chess.com not working. And if chess.com trys to make it not work while you have that plug in installed? Sounds like they are breaching into territory they should not be. Your computer. Your choices. Don't let them bully you into thinking you have to have ads. I have never in my four (five?) years on this site tolerated ads. And only two of those years were premium.

Hmmm... no. I never cared about the ads, and on this computer all I really ever do is playing Chess, so I might as well do my part in helping this site to pay the bills. I caved in.
