Flagging people

I have met many players who time out on purpose in a lost position or if they forget they're in a tournament. I am sick of this and I recommend chess.com to have a "flagging" option to indicate a player if he/she has been timing out often.

I had a player play his first move, and then wait for the time to run out. Luckily it was only a five minute game.

It definitely sucks though.

There is flagging. Be careful to read the details. Even after being softened it appears to be flagging many who thought they were doing nothing wrong. Mostly though, just removing their abort priveliges.

I think there needs to be a better or more permenant deterrent for stalling and other intentional nuisances, I once had a game where a poor player in a definate loss situation refused to move, and communicated that I must draw with him or wait for the time to go down, he argued that he did not want to lose points and it was not his problem that my time was being wasted to avoid the same thing unjustly happening to myself.

Sometimes people (9/10 times in a losing position) simply will not respond to chat, and stop playing part way through a 10|10 game.

Once I played a game with someone who seemed a weaker player, but every once in a while would make a move with such depth or high foresight I became certain someone was kibitzing.

So far I haven't been able to find a "flag" button on the live chess page, I think it needs to be made much more obvious how to flag someone (I still need to work out how to do it), and perhaps have a comment box about the type of flag e.g. "blackmail of wasting time" "stalling" "suspected kibitzing" "Harassment" "rude insulting chat behaviour" etc., and the game/chat be temporarily stored for reference that can be checked to confirm any flagged activities.

I love playing chess, overall I'm stoked to have found this website, I simply wish to help encourage weeding out some of the more frustrating people this generally awesome community encounters.

I don't have a credit card, but I'm tempted to bother getting one just so I can donate to chess.com...(and "The Pirate Bay")

Thanks so much!

Honestly if they’re wasting their time. Because usually I’m multitasking when I play chess so it doesn’t harm me. Such as reading a book or listening to a YouTube video.
