Opening explorer in mobile app

Hi folks - I'm using the most up to date iPhone app and I don't see how to refer to the opening explorer in post game analysis.

I understand that you can do this in the PC version, but I really only use C.c on my phone. If I switch to safari, the capability is there, but it's way too cumbersome because the display isn't laid out well enough. Is it possible to use in the iPhone app and I'm just not seeing how?

I use Android app and I don't see a way to get there from a completed game. Ongoing Daily games can access it from the Analysis board but that is not an option under Anaysis on completed games.

I have a love/hate relationship with using opening explorer in online games - I kind of wish it wasn't there. But I see it as a really useful tool for post-game analysis of live games. -games where it wasn't used 'during' the game.

I don't study openings by memorizing lines (this would be hopeless for me), but I try to use opening principles. So I think that in order for me to improve my opening play, It would be really helpful to compare my choices against the explorer.

I wish C.c would make this available in the post game analysis functionality in the mobile app. It seems like such an obvious thing to me that I wonder why it's not there already!

It's possible it was overlooked. I would think the analysis board would always have the feature in post-game analysis.

Ok.. Sorry.. I just went in and looked. so it appears that it's actually there now. but still, it seems not to really work properly.. you can't step through the moves. you have to close the explorer, then step to the next move, then reopen the explorer..

It's better than nothing though..

Hmm, I guess iOS has a feature Android doesn't.  Just updated to verify, unless I'm missing something.

I think it is new because I've looked for it before and hated that it wasn't there.. But now in my iOS app, if you open a past game, you get a pop-up saying the outcome of the game, and options to 'share', or 'analyze'. If you select analyze/self analysis, then the analysis board opens and the explorer option is there.. But it's a bit 'buggy'...

Yeah, that's not on Android currently. I looked there initially, since that was where it would be and double checked after updating.

Not a big deal for me as I do my checks on a local set of databases but strange that it is missing.

In thematic tournaments, where you start with a set opening, the opening explorer gets confused. You can get around the bug by going to 1st move of game, and playing all moves in the explorer. Gets tricky if you don't remember ever move in order.
