I have on numerous occasions seen people using the chess.com app at a bar for example. I then felt like wanting to make a challenge, say a 960 3|2 game, and just show them a QR code they could scan with their chess.com app. And the fight could commence. Searching for the username can be weird sometimes. I think this would be a nice feature for the app. Chess on!

Any type of challenge can be sent to anyone in form of a link : go to chess.com/play/online/friend and click "Create Challenge Link", then "Copy Link".

Now, any link can be transformed into a QR code - which I find usually more difficult to use than a plain link, because I cannot "scan" it with my phone's camera when it's displayed on my phone's screen! I'm always disgusted when I receive invitations to events as an image or PDF (by mail or WhatsApp etc), with a QR code instead of a clickable link on it.

OK, I can get that you want to show your phone's screen to the person standing next to you so they can scan it, that's a valid point/usage. Actually there are tons of "QR code maker" apps you can install on your phone. So you can simply copy the link from the c.c app and paste it into the QR maker app. But yes, why not suggest to c.c. to add a second button "show QR code" right below the "Copy Link" button !
