In this tournament, the max group size is five, i am in group 1, with only four people in the group. The number to qualify is two, will it still be two if their are only four people ( as opposed to five) in the group?

Yes. The general rule is up to half the maximum group size can advance.

The 2 of 5 advance setting automatically allows 2 of 4. It can even become 2 of 3.  See here.

There is a bug which resets maximum group size so 2 of 3 is not guaranteed it can become 1 of 3. See here where the maximum group size is now 3. Only one player advanced from Group #1. (Two advanced in group #2 due to a tie.)
