I thought it would be nice to get the general consensus of opinion as which of the two options is more viable?

Gert-Jan

The original post has an incorrect link.

Sorry for any Initial confusion, this topic was about Christmas Tournaments but that has gone so I thought I would try with another, more appropriate topic about the Queen's Gambit.

I usually do the Albin Countergambit and it has worked a lot for me.You can also set up a Lasker Trap.

I usually never accepted the gambit as I know I'll lose center control. So here's what you do in the decline line:

Thanks for your input, very much appreciated, I will really consider the 'Albin Countergambit' neat when it works I imagine?

If you're not sure about using the Albin Countergambit, you can watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDfjsMXlcek

Nice one Jose. greetings, I've just bought a book on chess openings, 'Chess Openings For Dummies', I am hoping that by understanding the different openings I will give myself a better position in the middle and end game!

ABOUT GAMBIT ACCEPT:IS UNUSUALLY,BUT GOOD.I PLAY FEW TIME,BUT IS SO INTEREST FOR NOT ENTER GAMES SO CURRENTLY,I THINK.GREETINGS,JOSE

RonnieLewis

I have actually arranged a few 'theme tournaments' (for 1350 and below) one of which is the Queen's Gambit, so that by playing a few games that start that way I can learn to understand the principles.

HI,RONNIE,A SINCERE GREETINGS.PERSONALLY,I PLAY SO MUCH OPENINGS IN 30-40 YEARS,BUT THIS IS A WRONG,NOT GOOD.  =================================================================               TO GREAT PLAYER,MASTER , OF OLAVARRIA,MY CITY, SAY LONG TIME AGO:"PLAYER MUST PLAY SAME OPENIGS ALL LIVE,ALLWAYS,THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER".HE DEAD ONE YEAR AGO.HUGH,JOSE

RonnieLewis

I have been playing about 9 months and so I want to try a few different openings as White to develop my own 'style' and also play against different openings as Black to learn how to respond.  A lot of games I play tend to be along the:

1: e4    e5

2: Nf3   Nf6

You know, Ruy Lopez, Italian Game, Guicco Piano, but I want to spice my game up a little!

But thanks for your advise, much appreciated.

Have you tried the Scotch Game?

RonnieLewis

Funnily enough I was playing around on my board earlier and thought of that idea, now I know it is an 'opening' I can reference it and examine it, thanks Tom, I hope you don't mind my familiarity?

That's a good book... Personally, I always decline lock the position and develop at blinding speed.
