creating custom tournament in group

Hi

i am thinking to create custom tournament in a group not using chess.com turn based tournaments. I want to create blitz tournament, for this i say to group members to register and then i make match fixtures and schedules in a forum post so that both players come to live chess here and challenge each other and play their game on schedule time, even players can communicate with each other to fix their game time if they can't play on pre-defined time. It can take much time to finish the tour when players play their games on flexible times. Is all these sound ok? or give me suggestions please..and suggest solutions if there are some problems.

Thanks in advance

The main thing is that you'll need to make the games unrated so that they can set colors, unless you are doing something like a double round robin.

I've done a couple of manual events in the past.

i had exp of this kind of tour play too, i saw players do not show dedication, they mostly were unable to manage play time, do not check messages and forum posts properly to discuss/communicate, even some players do not reply to enquiries properly. Also issue is net connection and engine usage!. wat to do about all these??

@martin yes double rr so once white n then black. share how u did manually if possible with links to know more abt it.

Well, mine was scheduled and a Swiss event. So, I had all players get in the group chat, mainly to check in, and did pairings in the group forum. Then had them let me know when the games were done, along with the result, so I could double check them.

more ideas plz. I was thinking to do a public forum post to bring more members for this prize money tournament.

There really isn't much more than that. Posting the pairings where everyone can get to them and setting the schedule. I did all the games in a short time frame (5 rounds in a morning).

I would never offer money though

I have found that a helpful tool for running manual tourneys is bracket-maker.com. It helps to keep track of who should play who, and you can set up multiple different types of tourneys.
