[O to the ^(M to the ^ G)] Confession time, and please read to the end before you react - I just *completely accidentally* put a position from a non-advanced chessdotcom tournament game into shredder 17 analysis because I got it confused with one from another site where it is allowed. Same opening, even though the games are not exactly the same now.
As soon as I realized the mistake, I knew that I couldn't use the move that the engine told me was best, and committed myself to making the second-to-best choice as a penalty. The joke's on me, though, because I had already moved in the chessdotcom game and was analyzing an old position, and not only that but I now know that the move I did make is even worse than second-best. Its not ethical for me to know even that, but I don't feel as bad as before because my opponent has the oppertunity to take advantage of my bad move.
As I said, please consider the outcome before reacting, and please don't ban me for non-fair-play. In this case I'm not really benefitting from the mistake...because the cheating detection algorithm isn't going to spot my computer aid, because I didn't use it.
Hmm. Knowing that you played a much worse than second best move can also be a help going forward.
I doubt that you will be flagged by the Fair Play team but I think that you might want to flag yourself for your inadvertent violation.
