I believe it means that the tournament director decided that they didn't want you in the tournament and removed you.

That's what happens when you move a piece twice in the opening- it is moved, and then re-moved.
When you're in a tourney, and your status is "removed" what does that mean? I've seen "active" and "withdrew" but I've never seen removed.
