Why 14 and not not 8x2=16? cuz a player cant play himself in the tournament.. those are where the "X" can be seen.. so 2 conc. games/oppo is deducted from 8x2
Simultaneous Games?

ahh i updated the picture
it determines how many games 1 player will have to play simultaneously (in the first round)

Oh, thanks a lot. I stared at your post for like a minute and finally got it. XD
im really bad at explaining forgive me

it determines how many games 1 player will have to play simultaneously (in the first round)
(Concurrent games per opponent) x (group size) -2
will give the number of simult. games for 1 player in the tournament.
try not giving them too many simultaneous games, since they might get mad hehe

also, if a tournament has 13 players and 6/group was the setting it will be 3 groups of 4, 4, and 5, and the conc. games would depend on the group

And Will, this is off topic, I did kick you out of my club because of your high time out ratio, but it is alright, you can stay. I just have to ensure that you don't take part in a team match if that ratio stays the same.
...it's fine... there really is no need to keep me...
I can't be trusted... my average time to move on a game now is 9-11 hours for the past two weeks but it doesn't matter...

I can't change your mind but I thought your club was very well-made with so many members and being active and all. My club has none of that and I don't want to disable it. I really liked your club. But you do as you wish.

I see what you mean now, and I know how you feel. That's why I always decline SA position in clubs that want me to work hard. Not quite. If I do think of someone I'll be very happy to let you know.

This explanation is not tracking for me. I'm seeing tournaments (looking at the Murphy Club ones right now) where they say that each round will have groups of 5 but that the simultaneous games will be 8. If you are in a group of 5 how can it be more than 4?
My first thought was that you might play 2 rounds at once but that doesn't make sense either as the top 2 of each round progress. So if everyone is playing all 4 games of the first round simultaneously you won't know that you are in the top two and on to the second round until you have defeated 2-3 opponents, leaving 1-2 games in progress. So you could start the 2nd round while still finishing 1st round games (which would now be without consequence for you) but the max number wouldn't be 8.
Or is it that you could be playing 3 rounds at once, 2-3 games in each round? If that is the case then am I correct that you could just resign the earlier round games if you decided that you did not want to play them?

I found the answer:
" When the tournament starts, your games will start! Chess.com uses the popular format for Daily chess tournaments. In round-robin tournaments each player plays every other player in two games (once as white, once as black). Depending on the settings, these games may happen simultaneously (two games at once per opponent). "
So it is 4 opponents at a time - 2 games each.
What does this mean? For example, in my tournament is says, "simultaneous games: 6", and someone else's tournament it says, "8". I don't understand what it means.
