Recently I "won" several games in a tournament due to opponents "timing out". This is beyond frustrating as we all put in our time and effort to meet the challenge of the game, then a cheap win occurs. Would we have really won the game? Would the 'trap' we developed have worked? etc. On checking I find a 20% + time out history for one of these opponents. Not someone I would have chosen to play. He timed out on both of his consecutive games after about 10 moves.
I am thinking to avoid any tournament that does not restrict time out percents in some reasonable way. Once you agree to a tournament, you are committed to whoever joined and can do nothing if they have a high % time out history.
I encourage all you great folks who organize tournaments to consider restricting yours to a reasonable time out % history. This is found in the advanced option when creating a tournament. Thanks!
