If you would like to chat, please use this forum thread.

Please do not chat in the Group Notes.

If you have a question about the World League, please usually ask the admins in your country's group. They speak your language, they tend to know you best, and they may best know about the context you may be thinking of with your question.

gambit-man

good idea Cool

Penguincw

I like that idea. But what should the chat be used for?

I tried doing a chat forum in my country, but I think users like chatting in the notes section better, and so do I. Probably different for every team.

ilmago

Of course in large groups it is not a matter of preference, but a matter of pure necessity to keep group notes usable and uncluttered, and use a forum chat thread for things like chatting.

example:

(transferred over here now, deleting it from the group notes over there.)

Such questions can even much better be answered in a forum.

https://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/world-league-2016-divisions

and

https://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/chess960-world-league-divisions

are the very recent links to simply show the info, and of course asking his country's admin directly would have been even simpler, and better than alerting many hundreds about it many times.

  • View profileYes,I agree It's a long season towards us and we should give our contribution for our countries.bye

    by armendmulakaj1984 2 days ago

  • View profileAgain, one can always ask questions if some information is hard to find. Also, I think that from an individual team-player's perspective, it really makes little difference to know the conditions necessary for the team to advance to a higher division right at this point: we have a long season ahead of us :).

    by sbbbbs 2 days ago

  • View profileYour point is valid, Armend, but you have to realize that WL is run by a few volunteers -- you will soon find out that you need some patience with things: with info to be updated, with your corrections to match results being taken into consideration, etc. I think it's only normal and absolutely acceptable.

    by sbbbbs 2 days ago

  • Yes I know the rules well but a talked about others who don't know where to take information and in wlguide are little info and someone doesn't know where to find info by themselves.that 2 or 3 best teams needs to be clear. Is it 2 or 3 and someone dont know

    by armendmulakaj1984 2 days ago

  • View profileIt's worth noting that World League is constantly growing: divisions change in size from one season to another, so I guess that the number of teams advancing in each division also may change between seasons. Generally, two or three best teams in a season move to a division one level above, and two or three scoring the lowest results drop to a division that's directly below.

    by sbbbbs 3 days ago

  • View profileArmend, myself I'm pretty new to the leagues, but the way I see it is this: any player who is quite so deeply interested in the point-scoring and other mechanics of the system can join this group and find information themselves. On the other hand, that's also part of our function as the national team admins: to look for answers if these specific questions are asked.

  • View profileThanks I already now everything I need but still I am not happy with world league guide cause there are little informations.for instance, how many team move up from "X" division to "Y" etc, etc.I know those information but any new player dont know that

  • View profileArmend please ask me if you need smth, will explain....

    by artdo88 5 days ago

  • View profileDear Armend, if you click on 'Forums' in the right panel, you will find the information you are looking for, in various forums, all well titled. :)

    by chess_kebabs 5 days ago

  • View profileArmend, we keep the World League Guide very short and simple, easy to read for all players. Organizational details will be dealt with by the admins who organize the matches.

  • View profileTeam Captains can get several information joining the World League Headquarters group. They should answer these questions inside in his/her country group.

Hi - when is the next match starting (standard chess)?

Is it on the 15th of every month except the last two months?

(If it makes a difference, I am most interested in Division D)

ilmago

Yes, 15th of each month, for January - September, for all divisions.

@timothy_s001: Discussing a game still in progress is strictly prohibited, as are open accusations of cheating. Both are violations of Chess.com policy. If you have reason to doubt your opponent's integrity, you may privately file a Support Ticket.

ilmago

Timothy, that sounds like just a mouse slip from your side.

To avoid that such mouse slips happen, change your settings for online games to switch on confirmation for each move instead of playing touch move in them.

When a mouse slip has happened,  chess players accept that it has happened and move on.

A forum with a definitive set of the rules please

ilmago

You do know about the World League guide, don't you?

cena_warrior

just wondering, is it a must for each World League team to have 50 players?

DorinN69

The number of players differs depending on Division: A - 100, B - 75, C - 50, D - 25, E - 15, F - 3

just checked both teams, Netherlands has 15 more members and an average rating of 1568 to Hollands 1567 so no real difference, i'm sure most people would be members of both so you'd have to stick with Holland as they have the runs on the board and compete hard. My team playing them in 1st round and they have 110 signed up compared to our 56 :( I'll be PMing hard to make a competitive match out of it
  • 17 hrs ago
If you do it once and for all, it would be the best for the national team of your country. If you care for the strength of your national team...
ok i shall stop whit this discussion !
hynder: This is not indicative of the strength of teams
  • 17 hrs ago
o i did and the biggest team can join !
@hynder... how about you go read the rules?
    i have joined !
Why are you divided? Suggestions: Join forces. Join the team that's already in the World League.

SixSamuraiSlo, well, it's not on chess-leagues, but there is a group page for the Europe league: https://www.chess.com/groups/home/european-chess-federation. Maybe you can find something there. :)

I know it is not an World League issue but I am interesting where we can see Europa league results? Can anybody hallpe me?
    Sounds shifty.

At the expense of another team who have competed in the league for years?

hynder: How you define your team as stronger than your national team?
yes the strongest team from a country should play in the worldleaqe ?
gambit-man, don't worry, he is just being unrealistic, about his team size, about cooperation and participation needed for operating a WL team, ...
you want to take the place of a team who haven't left?
    ok so you will ?
we can see how much will play for The Netherlands maybe more ?
Hynder, for the third time, no :-)
must play in the worldleque ?
    But the strongestcountry team so
Hynder, I do understand you're upset. But rather focus your attention on supporting Chess Team Holland. That will be appreciated, than you are also playing in the World League. Chess Team Holland is, and continue to be, the official Dutch team. And the only Dutch team who is able to play 200+ matches.
no i think the not left ?\
    No to all three :-)
    have they left?
can we take there place ?
ok where stronger as Chess Team Holland !
You can encourage your players to join the WL team of course, if you think it should become stronger :-)
No you play whit the strongest team from a coyntryy ?
No, hynder, we very usually stick with the same teams in the WL.
The Netherlands team is now stronger than chess team Holland and we can take their place in the world Lèque?

SolitaireBat

Guys, I have a slightly silly request happy.png. I noticed that it is possible to insert a miniature national flag symbol within the text of a commentary -- some of you do it when submitting links to WL team matches. I think that looks pretty cool happy.png. Could you instruct me how you do it? It might be interesting for more people, so perhaps it's worth a comment in this thread, but you could also write me a PM if you prefer.

I’d like to propose that two points Srbija Tim gained on 107 board are not to be counted in final score of this match due to a very sad loss of Team Canada member, and to express deepest condolences in behalf of my team.
