Collegiate Chess League Division 1 — Spring 2025 Week 6 Standings

SLU Holds On: SLU 8.5-7.5 Mizzou
In last season's championship, Mizzou took the title in a close match against SLU. Midway through the current season, the two teams are again the top contenders for first place. Through five weeks of the current season, both teams were undefeated. SLU's all-grandmaster lineup of Aryan Chopra, Viktor Gazik, Robby Kevlishvili, and Batsuren Dambasuren took on Missouri's all-GM lineup (three GMs and one GM elect) of Aryan Tari, Mikhail Antipov, Luka Budisavljevic, and Isik Can.
The Mizzou team is led by Tari and Antipov, two highly-rated players. However, SLU held Tari to an even score and Antipov to 2.5/4. SLU is a well-balanced team and was led this week by Gazik's perfect score. He defeated Antipov in one of the most spectacular games of the match.
SLU won the opening round 3-1 and expanded the lead to 5.5-2.5 after two rounds. Budisavljevic helped bring Mizzou back in the match with victories in the final two rounds, including this final-round game against Batsuren, which received a perfect score from Game Review.
Games like that made for a tight finish, but SLU held on for an 8.5-7.5 victory, taking sole first place going into week seven.
