GM Anish Giri and his wife IM Sopiko Guramishvili traveled from the Netherlands and arrived early to go shopping for festive, traditional clothing. You can check out IM Sagar Shah's vlog about the experience, which started with picking them up from the airport at 2 a.m.
Hundreds of people attended, and we saw the who's who of the Indian chess scene, as prominent chess-playing guests included GMs Arjun Erigaisi, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, Abhimanyu Puranik, Sasikiran Krishnan, Adhiban Baskaran, Sethuraman S.P., Abhijit Kunte, GM Vishnu Prasanna & WIM Raghavi N, IMs Tania Sachdev, Rakesh Kulkarni, Konguvel Ponnuswamy, Krishnater Kushager, Lanka Ravi, Sagar and Amruta Mokal, FM Sajjandas Joshi, and CM Raghunandan Gokhale.

Other notable guests were Anand Deshpande (founder and CEO of Persistent Systems, also Vidit's sponsor), Jeet Banerjee (Tournament Director of Tata Steel Chess India), and Avadh Shah (Country Director, Chess.com India).
Vidit has less than a week before his next tournament. After winning the grueling, three-day qualifier last month, he earned a spot in the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Paris, which starts on Monday, April 7. He said in the interview that they'll probably celebrate their honeymoon in Paris, too! And, hopefully, the festivities will leave him in a beaming mood to play great chess. He said:
It’s an Indian wedding, it’s not just one day, it goes on for a week, but I’ll have a lot of happy emotions, so I think that’s my preparation, just being happy and in a good mood—maybe that’ll help!
Congratulations to the newlyweds! You can check out their beautiful video below!
