Bio

Jacob Aagaard is a Danish-Scottish grandmaster and one of the most prestigious chess authors in the world. In 2005, Aagaard won the Scottish Chess Championship but did not win the title since he was not yet a British citizen. Two years later, as a British citizen, he won the British Chess Championship title. Aagaard won the Scottish Chess Championship again in 2012, this time winning the title. He is currently the second highest-rated player in Scotland (as of June 2021).

Aagaard is also an accomplished chess author. In Grandmaster Preparation, one of his most popular series, he teaches readers different key aspects of the game in each of its six titles. For his work as an author, Aagaard has won prestigious prizes like the Book of the Year awards from the English Chess Federation and the Association of Chess Professionals. Aagaard is also one of the co-founders of the chess publishing house Quality Chess.
