GM Kenneth Rogoff

Kenneth Rogoff is an American chess player and economist. He earned his international master title in 1974, his grandmaster title in 1978, and his PhD in Economics from MIT in 1980.
By finishing second in the 1975 U.S. Championship, Rogoff qualified for the 1976 Interzonal in Biel, Switzerland, giving him a chance to become a candidate for the world championship while still just an IM. In a field of grandmasters, he finished 14th out of 20.
As of 2021 Rogoff is an economics professor at Harvard. He writes about his chess career on his Harvard webpage here.
