Tunde Onakoya

Bio
Tunde Onakoya is a Nigerian chess player, founder of the non-profit Chess in Slums Africa, and Guinness World Record holder. On April 20, 2024, Onakoya played a 60-hour chess marathon against NM Shawn Martinez (and others), breaking the previous record of 56 hours, set in 2018. They held their record-setting match in Times Square, New York City and raised $110,000 for Chess in Slums Africa.
That record was never officially recognized, but Onakoya and Martinez ran a 64-hour marathon from April 17 to April 20, 2025, one which was validated by Guinness World Records.
We did the impossible and gave the world something new to believe in.
