Mediabear 5th Media Chess Open - Sponsored by Robert Webster
Brought to you by Media Chess Club
We start at 10am Saturday Jan 22nd 2022, Gives some time to get back to work and get over new year. You have 24 hours to make each move, so you will not be swamped at any point. You will play in a Group of 5 people. 4 Games will start when the tournament starts, when you finish a game against an opponent the second and final game against that person will start. New this time, 1st and 2nd of each group will progress to the final rounds, one or two more rounds depending on total numbers.
(Actual group sizes may vary depending on total players)
Winners are determined by Tie Break if match wins are drawn and the score is even in a group, you get points based on beating someone who has beaten someone else. So it is possible for more than 2 players to go through in each group.
Prizes:
1st Place , £100 to charity of choice + £100 Chess sets to school of choice + an engraved Chess Trophy
2nd, 3rd, 4th - Luxury Chess Mug for office bragging
Biggest Upset - £25
1st round qualifiers (Should be around x16) will ALL win a “Luxury” Chess notebook.
Game style is Daily Mode on 1 days (allowing none demanding play at your own pace)
Standard is very mixed, I suggest practicing a few Daily Mode games if you have not played Chess in a while. We host practice smaller tournaments on a regular basis, message for details.
Good luck! Dave
