Ben Masel October 17, 1954 - April, 2011 was a dedicated civil liberties activist who lived in Wisconsin. He was a an amazing personality who gave so much of himself toward the greater good. Ben was a very skilled, high-rated chess player and member of this site and was a valued member of (in particular) The 420 Chess Club. The ending of cannabis prohibition was of particular interest to Ben.
Ben championed freedom for all and it is in this spirit that we celebrate his extraordinary life with an open tournament. May he rest in infinite peace.
