Nairobi Chess Club uses to organize every year with great success the "Jamhuri Cup" honoring the day Kenya gained self-governance from the United Kingdom.

Richard Polaczek was a member of Nairobi ChessClub in the 1980s and the youngest player who has won the Kenya Open. He won the first edition in 1979 at the age of 13!
Now he is IM, resides in Belgium, and has represented Belgium in a number of international events.
The "V Richard Polaczek NCC Cup" online tournament is devoted to honouring his contribution to Nairobi Chess Club.

Nairobi Chess Club (NCC) is the oldest and more active club in Kenya, having registered on Feb.26th, 1958.
NCC provides opportunities for local chess players with OTB tournaments throughout the year.
In our group on chess.com the majority of players have a daily rating under 1500. This tournament will help them to progress. It is reserved for any user into that range and specially for our NCC members.
The "II Open NCC U1500" is open to all chess.com members with rating under 1500 and especially to our NCC members.
The tournament will start on May.3th.

Nairobi Chess Club (NCC) is a small but active club in Kenya. It's the oldest chess club in Kenya, founded in 1958.
NCC provide opportunities for local chess players with events throughout the year. All of them are possible thanks to sponsorships.
Aslam Adam was the first Tournament Director of NCC and a committed player for our club.
He was the winner of the Kenya Open in 1981.
Adam was a long time supporter of NCC. Unfortunately he passed away in 2023
The "V Aslam Adam Cup NCC" online tournament is held in his memory and his great commitment and engagement with Nairobi Chess Club.

Peter Gilruth has been for many years the highest-rated player of Nairobi Chess Club and for a long time he was Kenya's highest-rated player.
Peter joined the club in 1983 and has been an active player in local and international events, with great success.
