Born and raised in Northbrook, Illinois and graduating from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina she moved into acting and has built a strong career with nearly 50 screen credits, but some of these are long appearances in serial drama on TV and she may be remembered for Chicago Hope 1995-99, The District 2000-02, Boston Legal 2006 and of late she has had a recurring role as Admiral Cornwell in Star Trek: Discovery 2017-19.
