After the huge success of this tournament last year, (which is still ongoing) The Corona Cup returns for another year. So many players enjoyed the theme of this tournament last year we had to bring it back again for a second year. The tournament is now fully supported by 'Club Capablanca.' We look forward to the return of some familiar faces as well as some new players.
The Corona Virus a Global Pandemic which changed for many the way people lived there lives and affected almost every human being to some extent. Because of the virus Chess was also affected and most OTB tournaments were cancelled and Clubs closed. Thankfully that period of time has past although the memory for many remains. Online chess however, Boomed!! Nothing will stop the advancement of this Great game. Welcome to the Corona Cup World Tournament for all players around the globe - x250 players will compete in an Open- rated tournament in groups of 4 players. No Vacation. Tournament will start when all players are seated. Very Best of luck to all of you.
Tournament parameters are - you must be over 700 rating - you must have a minimum of 20 daily games played and not exceed 25% timeout, there are no exceptions to this.
You will play 6 games at the same time (one as Black, one as White per opponent) at a control of one day per move in groups of 4 players. Only the top 2 will advance.
